Queensland Generators catch eye of Regulator

Queensland’s two state owned electricity generators, Stanwell Energy and CS Energy, have been brought into question for analysis of their bidding practices when selling electricity into Queensland’s grid.
Analysis conducted by Ernst and Young found that late rebidding by the generators had forced prices up in the last 3 months of 2014 by an average of $8 per MWh. Following this the regulator has raised the prospect of furthering regulation to ensure that such practices, which favour gas-fired generators, are more tightly maintained.
