Indian company plans to built 100MW Solar Plant in SA

The next five years will see the construction of Australia’s largest solar power plant in South Australia.

The Waaree Group, an Indian company, has been involved with solar PV for five years but if built to plan the 100MW plant will be the largest they have embarked on. In addition to the plant, the company plans to build a solar manufacturing facility and national headquarters in Adelaide.

As yet, it is not determined whether solar PV (an array of hundreds of individual solar panels) of solar thermal (mirrors that concentrate heat on a central point) will be used. The project aims to become the largest solar power plant in the country, surpassing the 10MW Greenough River Solar project in WA.
