RET to remain untouched
In a move that will be celebrated amongst wind, solar, wave, tidal and biomass generators, the Climate Change Authority has agreed to not amend the RET target of 20% renewable energy in the NEM.
Many traditional generators sought to contest the target that was set at 41,000 GWh because it was said that decreasing demand for electricity would mean that this amount would equate to 25%.
The Authority remained firm in the face of opposition from an alliance of Energy Australia, Origin and Liberal State Governments.
