Victoria State Government Flags New Renewables Initiatives

The Victorian State Government is seeking consultation as to what its new Energy Policy heading forward will look like. Titled "Victoria's Renewable Energy Roadmap", the document details a list of the governments’ priorities regarding renewable energy and greenhouse reduction targets to meet by 2020.

The document outlines broad plans to increase the renewable energy generation feeding into the grid, as well as a supportive framework to invite residential users to invest into their own generation assets. Distributed energy generation and storage is another key area where incentives are likely to be created as the storage market is set to expand rapidly in the coming years.

All of the targets sit within the greater economic strategy of job and economic growth in the renewables industry in Victoria, particularly as the remaining elements of the automotive industry finally close their doors over 2017/18.
