Port Augusta: 300MW Wind and Solar Farm Planned

Plans to develop a 150MW Wind Farm and 150 MW Solar Farm have been submitted to the SA Government by DP Energy. The project - with total capacity of 300 MW - is planned for Port Augusta. 

If the project were to receive approval it would be a boost for Port Augusta which recently learned that two coal-fired power stations owned by Alinta Energy were to be shut down by 2018 at the latest.

Alinta Energy had previously planned solar projects for Port Augusta, but were recently forced t step away from the plans due to the projects being not economically viable.
