Commercial Wave Power to arrive in Victoria

Victoria's first ever commercial sized wave power device is to be commissioned in November this year following the completion of its construction. The wave power device is to be situated off the coast of Port Fairy in South-Western Victoria.

The project, which came at a cost of $21 million, will provide 250 kW of power into the electricty grid. 

Wave power represents one of the newest and most difficult frontiers that renewable energy has faced. The shear size of the power that the oceans have means that extra emphasis on sound engineering and construction are vital to long-term success.
