New Renewable Energy Target Finalised

The revised RET of 33,000 GWh, down from 41,000 GWh, was passed through the parliament last month and after plenty of back and forth between both sides, the legislation finally passed through the Senate on June 23.
The revised target included the burning of native woods, as well as the addition of a wind turbine commissioner. The commissioner's role would be to investigate the environmental and health impacts of wind turbines and to investigate any complaints made by the public.
These altered measures came on the back of crossbench support from senators that wanted to address the concerns surrounding wind turbines.
