Hunt: Renewables scheme will not be scrapped

Environment Minister Greg Hunt has today appeared to rule out the possibility that the Renewable Energy Target (RET) will be abandoned altogether and existing investments in renewable energy left stranded.
Dick Warburton, who is heading up the federal government’s review of the RET, has told media that all options were being considered in his review. This included abandoning the scheme completely and providing no grandfathering of support arrangements for existing investments.
In response to questions from Climate Spectator highlighting these comments, Minister Hunt said the government was committed to the scheme continuing, stating that, “our election commitment is clear”. However he did not mention anything about the commitment being for a minimum of 20% renewable energy market share.
