Companies plan to ease energy pain with monthly bills

ENERGY giants are bringing in monthly bills in recognition of the pain households are ­suffering from soaring prices.



Some customers can also choose preferred power or gas bill dates to help them budget in line with wage cycles.


AGL, which has almost 755,000 Victorian residential energy customers, has introduced a new monthly account option amid rising financial stress.


Origin Energy also plans to expand monthly bills in future.


Remotely read smart­meters allow for accurate monthly electricity bills based on actual use, relieving the shock of trad­itional quarterly costs of hundreds of dollars.
