Activist group calls for freeze on coal-seam gas mining

ANTI-COAL-SEAM gas group Lock the Gate will today launch its federal election campaign with a demand for an immediate freeze on the industry until water, farming and other land issues have been resolved.

The group said that it would release a map showing exploration covered 60 per cent of the continent, including 11 of the nation's 16 iconic landscapes.

Lock the Gate claims to represent 170 organisations with a combined membership of 20,000 people.
