Centre Alliance secures government pledge on gas pipeline price-gouging

As part of a deal between the the Morrison Government and the Centre Alliance Party, Matt Canavan (the Resources Minister) has pledged to investigate claims that gas pipeline monopolies are price gouging on transport charges.
The government will ‘react’ if the claims of overcharging by gas pipeline operators is substantiated.
The Australian Pipelines and Gas Association chief exec has said that the organisation will oppose any attempt to change pipeline policy.
Acting Finance Minister Josh Frydenberg said the government is “exploring options […] to bring down the price of gas on the east coast and to boost the supply of gas into the domestic market”.
